Part-Assignment Auditions

Auditions will be held in 5-minute increments on the first day of classes (August 24, 2022) between 4:00 - 6:30 PM in Presser (Sanborn Hall). Auditions are based on sight-reading and two 30-second excerpts of your choice featuring lyrical and technical skills.

To sign up for your audition time, just write in your name via this sign-up sheet by August 23. Our audition process is only used to determine a part assignment for each band member. All enrolled students with good attendance are eligible to perform at our concerts.

You may use any music for the self-prepared excerpts (exercises, etudes, band parts, etc.). If you don’t have easy access to music parts, all members are welcome to use any of the OWU High School honor band PDF parts in this folder.

Percussionists, please prepare an example of snare drum or practice pad playing (e.g., rudiments, etudes, rhythm exercises) plus an example of at least one other percussion instrument (mallets, auxiliary equipment, timpani, etc).
