John McGory
Part-Time Instructor in the Department of Journalism & Communication; Transcript Advisor
About
John McGory teaches journalism-centered courses at Ohio Wesleyan University. He has a long career in education and communication.
He taught English at Jianghan University where he was named the International Teacher of the Year twice and served as a language editor at the Changjiang Weekly, Wuhan's largest English newspaper with a circulation of 70,000. He also worked as a consultant for numerous large corporations including Johnson & Johnson, CITIC Bank, and Meritar Logistics.
For 15 years he owned a consulting firm, The McGory Group, where he provided economic development advice to numerous central Ohio communities and companies. He worked as public affairs director for the Building Industry Association for a decade. The Ohio Supreme Court hired him as the first spokesperson in the history of the court. He served for four years.
He has written two books: Seeking Balance and The Wuhan Games.
John earned a M.S. degree in journalism from Ohio University and a B.S. degree in education from The Ohio State University.
He has three grown children and six grandchildren.
