Initiated by the Dick Summerlee '69 family and supported by the Advisory Board of the Woltemade Center, The Norman Leonard Endowed Student Research Grant supports student-faculty collaborative research. The purpose of the grant is to provide a tangible reward to students who possess a motivation for learning, a talent for the application of learning, and the ability to demonstrate accomplishment in a faculty-supervised project beyond standard class work. The award is for $2,000 and multiple grants may be given in any one year.
To qualify for the award:
- A student must be a declared major in Economics, Management Economics, Quantitative Economics, Business Administration, Finance Economics, Accounting, or International Business.
- Applications must be jointly submitted by a student and faculty member.
- Students may only submit one application.
A complete application will include:
- The student's unofficial transcript
- A 2-3 page research proposal addressing the following points:
- the proposed research topic
- the proposed timeline of the research project
- the proposed methodology of the research project
- the expected research outcome (e.g., paper, database, presentation)
- A mini-literature review of the proposed topic
- A student statement about the student's motivation for this project and how the project fits within the student's course of study
- A brief comment from the collaborating faculty member (confidential – for review committee only)
- Dated signatures from both the student and the collaborating faculty member
