Nick Church - B.A. Astronomy

Nick Church has graduated with a B.A. in Astronomy with a minor in History. Nick is currently exploring options to pursue a Master's degree in Physics or to enter the workforce. Nick shares that a standout memory while at OWU was the summer of 2023, where he worked with Dr. Harmon studying the starspots on the surface of the star LO Pegasi.

Hannah Green - B.S. Astrophysics

Hanna has accepted an offer to pursue a Ph.D. in high energy particle physics from Michigan State University. A highlight Hannah has shared about her time here was sharing about the solid relationships that she has forged with faculty and staff within the department of Physics and Astronomy.

2023 Graduated Seniors

Luke Belinski - B.A. Pre-Engineering (3-2 Program)

Luke is continuing on with his 3-2 engineering program and attending the University of Illinois Chicago to pursue his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. When asked about highlight from his time at Ohio Wesleyan University, Luke recalled all of the great friends that have been made as well as the valuable connections created with his professors.

James Doerle - B.S. Astrophysics

Memeber of Sigma Pi Sigma

James shared that a highlight from his studies at OWU was a trip to New Orleans sponsored by Dr. Gamso, Emerita Professor of Performing Arts. During this trip, James experienced the local jazz culture in New Orleans and had the opportunity to learn how to infuse this unique musical style into his accordion playing. Additionally, James stated that working with Dr. Harmon studying the starspots on the star LO Pegasi as a Summer Science Research Program project was a transformative experience that has fortified his desire to continue to pursue a career in astrophysics.

Kaito Iwasaki - B.S. Astrophysics & Applied Mathematics

Member of Sigma Pi Sigma

Kaito has accepted an offer to pursue his PhD in Mathematics at the Univesity of Michigan. When asked about highlights of his time here at OWU Kaito recalled his Summer Science Research Program project with Dr. Harmon where he studied the starspots on the star LO Pegasi, "My highlight is the first summer when I did SSRP remotely from Japan! Manipulating the telescope in Perkins remotely across the ocean was such a cool experience. It was unusual and probably won't happen again."

 

 

Tiyinoluwa Olushola-Alao - B.A. Physics

Tiyinoluwa has accepted an offer to pursue his Master degree in Physics from Bowling Green State University. He states that a highlight of his time here at OWU was working on a Summer Science Research Program project with Dr. Harmon studying the starspots on the star LO Pegasi.
