Ohio Wesleyan’s long commitment to environmental sustainability stretches throughout the University. Academically, OWU houses the oldest interdisciplinary environmental major in Ohio, and at the grassroots level, student clubs and organizations lead many initiatives on and off campus. Above it all, OWU’s campus sustainability plan was created over several years with contributions from our campus Sustainability Task Force, students in the Environment and Wildlife Club and Treehouse SLU, joined by efforts in courses, projects related to sustainability-themed Sagan National Colloquia, and student independent projects.
OWU Sustainability Plan
Our sustainability plan was developed by Ohio Wesleyan’s Sustainability Task Force and approved in November 2017. The plan is the culmination of three years of hard work and many more years of foundational work by students, staff, and faculty. The plan features four major goals:
- Commit to a sustainable future on campus and in the community.
- Reduce our impact on global climate change.
- Increase our health and well-being.
- Live better on campus and on Earth.
