OWU's innovative, new Teach Now program is one of the fastest, most affordable pathways to a teaching career.
This partnership between OWU and Columbus State creates an accelerated, high-quality teacher licensure pathway for highly motivated high school students - and addresses Central Ohio's teacher shortage. Essentially, it cuts in half the cost and time needed to obtain a teaching license.
Here's how it works
Qualifying high school students can complete a two-year associate degree while still in high school by taking College Credit Plus/Dual Enrollment classes completed through Columbus State Community College. The courses required for the Teach Now program are all offered through Columbus State.
After earning their associate degree - at the same time they earn their high school diploma - students then enroll as juniors in Ohio Wesleyan's accredited education program. They can then earn their bachelor's degree and Ohio teaching license through OWU's accredited education program in as little as two more years.
Students who cannot complete the full associate of arts (AA) degree through dual enrollment can complete their remaining coursework at CSCC and then transfer to OWU.
Currently, students in the Teach Now program can major in Elementary Education, Inclusive Elementary Education, and Special Education. Explore OWU's Education majors.
