About

Jamie Deitz has been in the field of education for 12 years. Before her family moved to Ohio, Jamie taught kindergarten for 8 years. She brings her elementary teaching experiences and stories to her students here at OWU, as she uses this to provide practical applications of literacy in the classroom. Jamie's courses focus primarily on reading development in the young child to adolescence, reading instruction, reading assessment, and fostering a print rich environment. She oversees the initial field experience for juniors majoring in elementary and inclusive elementary education, and special education. Her current research focuses on the Science of Reading and how our brains learn to read.
