Summer Study Away Scholarships
Scholarships and grants are available to those interested in Summer Study Away opportunities. Check out the options below to help off-set the cost of summer programs.
Scholarships
There are many institutional and external scholarship options for summer study away. Some scholarships are for students with specific interest and backgrounds. For example, the Schott Scholarship is available to members of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity majoring in business and the Horsfall Scholarship is avilable to History majors.
To determine which scholarship you might be eligible for, please complete the OWU Summer Study Away Scholarship Application. The deadline to apply for OWU summer scholarships is March 1st.
In addition to OWU endowed scholarships, many of our international partners also offer awards. Be sure to pay attention to any scholarships offered through your program sponsor.
Need Based Aid
Students eligible for a Pell award may also apply part of their Pell Grant award for the summer study abroad. Please contact the Financial Aid office if you qualify.
Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship:
Students receiving Pell Grants may also apply for the US Federal Gilman scholarship program. Check out this video which walks you through applying for the Gilman.
OWU Connection Grant
OWU Connection grants are funded by generous donors to help students design and execute personalized and impactful OWU Connection experiences. These grants are intended to close financial gaps and remove as many barriers as possible to participate in your OWU Connection experience. Specifically, an OWU Connection Grant can go towards covering your out of pocket expenses related to summer or semester study away. Visit their website for more information and to apply.
Baran Fellowship:
Having benefited from strong mentorship at Ohio Wesleyan University, Jan W. Baran '70 created a fund to support and encourage students engaging in educational experiences that will better prepare them for education at the next level after they graduate from Ohio Wesleyan University. Study abroad is one of these expereinces and students pursuing study abroad are encouraged to apply. Visit the Baran Fellowship page for elibility and more information.
