Research Compliance
Ohio Wesleyan University is responsible for ensuring that research activities conducted under its auspices do not violate the rights and welfare of human or non-human animal subjects. Investigators conducting research with human or non-human animal subjects must obtain approval from the appropriate body prior to the commencement of any research activities.
- The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews research using non-human animal subjects.
- The Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews research using human subjects.
- The University has a separate policy regarding class projects that involve the collection of information from or about human subjects. These projects may or may not require IRB approval.
