Obituary
Dear Colleagues,
I write today to share that Professor Emeritus Robert C. Lawrence died Saturday night in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His son, Steve, reports that his father died peacefully and surrounded by family.
A member of the music faculty for 40 years, Robert began his career at Ohio Wesleyan in 1952 and retired in 1992. He made a lasting impact on everyone he met and will be deeply missed.
Upon his retirement, colleague Bob Griffith shared that Robert’s “high professional and musical standards have been instrumental in shaping the very tenor of the Department of Music.”
Robert’s family will hold a small memorial service Friday in Santa Fe. OWU alumna Madeleine Williamson, one of Robert’s students, will provide the music. Robert’s cremains will be interred at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Delaware at a later date.
Please join me in sharing our deepest sympathy with Robert’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Rock Jones, President, Ohio Wesleyan University
