Faculty/Staff Training FAQs

How do I log into Perspectives? Do I have to create an account?

You won't need to create an account, but you must use this Perspectives link and then click the blue "Sign in with your Ohio Wesleyan University Account" link before you enter your OWU email and password information.

I'm having trouble accessing Perspectives!

If you receive an error message, please check with the person below to confirm your registration:

How long will Perspectives take?

The full program takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Perspectives is asynchronous, so you can work at your own pace. (Faculty/staff will have access to both levels of training on or before Sept. 10, 2024.

I attended the Foundations in Facilitating Dialogue training. Should I still do Perspectives?

There is a small amount of overlap between the two trainings, but Perspectives focuses more on key concepts from psychology to explain where our differences in beliefs, worldviews, and values come from, while Foundations centers the skills of facilitation.

I want to sign up for a training session.

Training sessions are being filled first by invitation to prioritize those staff who work directly with students. Any additional seats will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Watch for an email to sign up. And, remember, the online asynchronous course, Perspectives, is available to all faculty and staff beginning Sept. 10, 2024.

I'm interested in facilitating a Dialogue in Practice session.

I want to learn more about assigning Perspectives in my class.

COMING SOON

I want to assign Perspectives in my class or offer extra credit to students who complete it. How can I track student completion?

The student version is divided into two levels Beginner (Lessons 1-2) and Advanced (Lessons 3-6). You can preview the lessons here. The Beginner level will be available on Sept. 10, 2024. The Advanced Level will be available starting Sept. 26, 2024. Students will receive an email confirmation when they complete a level, although the email is not immediate. Students should take a screenshot of their completed lessons or forward you the confirmation email to show that they have completed the lessons. If you would like to have access to their individual answers, please email cdi@owu.edu to request that you be added as an instructor. As of now, it is not possible to create a separate section of the course for your students.

Will the faculty/staff Perspectives training be different from the student training?

Perspectives essentially is a parallel three-hour virtual program for all audiences. The main difference is that the application scenarios will be targeted to faculty/staff and not students (e.g., an office issue versus a roommate issue). Both versions of Perspectives will use the same CDI approach.
