Each year, the Thomas W. Palmer '69 and Susan Palmer Global Scholars Program admits a small number of high-achieving first-year students who are passionate about global issues. For this competitive program we seek students who are eager to immerse themselves in interdisciplinary coursework and embrace international perspectives, regardless of their chosen academic majors.
If you are interested in being considered for the Global Scholars Program, please complete the application by March 1.

Students who successfully complete all of the requirements of the Global Studies Institute will graduate with a Global Studies Institute certificate, so denoted on their transcripts.

"While I was unable to study abroad due to the pandemic, I plan on engaging in global activity. Upon graduation from Ohio Wesleyan, I will be working as a global finance and business management analyst for JPMorgan Chase & Co. I hope that I can continue my international experiences through this program."
Favorite Global Scholars memory..."My most memorable experience through the Global Scholars program was speaking with Sengalese photographer Fabrice Monteiro. The artist who created photography that connected environmental issues with the cultural interests of the various populations ranging from Africa to the United States."

"I went abroad in Spring 2020 through the CIEE Block Program. I was planning on spending 12 weeks in Shanghai, China, and 6 weeks in Madrid, Spain. Due to COVID I got to spend 4 weeks in Shanghai, China, and then 4 weeks in London, United Kingdom."

Favorite Global Scholars memory..."One of the last things we all did before the pandemic was have dinner at Old Dog Alehouse. It was nice to talk to people from my cohort who I hadn't seen much since the end of the Seminar freshman year."

"Traveling with Dr. Rowley to Iceland for my Theory to Practice Grant, which was originally drafted in my freshman Global Scholars Seminar."

"I enjoy nature and would love to learn more about it. I hope to travel to get fieldwork done with wildlife and the environment to arm myself with the tools necessary to understand sustainability and the unique challenges environments and animals face. To do this I hope to travel to specific environments such as Brazil for its rainforest, Africa for its savannah or Hawaii for its reefs."
Favorite Global Scholars memory..."The last day of class, when my whole cohort celebrated at Amato's. We made a promise to keep meeting up with each other despite having no classes."
