Academic advisors work with students as they create or refine an academic plan, pursue short- and long-term academic goals, decide on a major course of study, identify research or internship opportunities, explore graduate school or career options, and, more generally, navigate their college experience as it relates to academic and personal success and understanding the value of OWU's liberal arts education.
Academic advisors help students select courses for semester schedules, explain OWU's academic policies and procedures, and recommend campus resources, programs, and support services.
Academic advisors play a pivotal role in guiding and supporting students as they take increasing responsibility for learning about academic requirements, making informed decisions about curricular and co-curricular opportunities, and taking ownership of their academic planning and goal-setting.
For these and other reasons, a student's relationship with their academic advisor is one of the most important relationships that student will develop while at Ohio Wesleyan University. Read more about advisor and advisee roles.
Reach out to the Office of Academic Advising (academicadvising@owu.edu) any time with advising questions. We are here to support you!
You will be assigned an academic advisor approximately one week before starting classes. Find your advisor's contact information in the Profile section of Self-Service. Each semester, you will meet with your advisor to discuss your academic progress and goals, review degree requirements, and consider courses for next semester.
