Awards & Recognition

The Spark Award has been established by the Ohio Wesleyan University Staff Council that reports directly to the President of the University. This award recognizes the qualities of employees who have worked at OWU for five years or less. They have exemplified the characteristics we are looking for in a short amount of time to become an asset to OWU. The award also recognizes employees who have served in an exceptional manner by exemplifying outstanding service through his or her work and exhibiting a positive and supportive attitude.

The Spark awardee must:

• Be an Ohio Wesleyan University non-faculty employee;
• Go above and beyond normal job responsibilities, earning trust and respect from colleagues;
• Have a positive impact on faculty, staff, students, and/or trustees;
• Exemplify pride and spirit of Ohio Wesleyan University and the outside community;
• Continuously demonstrate dedication to Ohio Wesleyan University.

Nominees will be judged by the Staff Council. When asked why a co-worker is deserving of the award, please elaborate on your response; give specific examples and/or use elaborate descriptions. Once the selection has been finalized, the winner will be announced at the Employee Service Recognition Luncheon held each January. Those employees nominated, but not chosen will receive notification from the Staff Council that they were nominated and the nomination ballet attached.
